Our Company History

CalSungold has a proud history of providing the finest quality dates and date palm trees in the world.

The founders of the businesses that would become CalSunGold, arrived  to the Coachella Valley in the mid-1950's as part of the "bracero" program, which bolstered the burgeoning US economy with skilled agricultural and farm production workers.

Quickly rising to the top of the Date industry, the brothers found themselves designated as 'palmeros,' the men you see in picturesque photos hanging by a rope from the top of a date palm.

By the early 1980's the company had grown into one of the largest and most well know date growers and processors in the country.

In 1994 a new chapter in this American success story was written. CalSunGold was formed and merged with the Date Factory in Thermal, California.

CalSunGold is now a preeminent producer of the upscale Medjool variety, which is becoming an important part of the date market.

Cal Sungold annually produces, processes and markets six million pounds of dates - five million pounds of Deglet Noors and one million pounds of Medjools.

Today the company founded by an immigrant family in the 1950's is one of the largest independent date producer in the Coachella Valley.
